As I understand not all roofs have a serial number?
Ditto. As I understand not all roofs have a serial number?
Hello Friends,As Carol has pointed out in her profile post, we have discovered tiny blisters on the roof of our MP. Has anyone else got the same? Anyone been to MB about it?
We will talk to MB and let you know what they say. FYI our MP is 2018 model.
Thanks ClaireDe
Hey Grand Tourismo. That's a result. Was this via a telephone call or do you have any correspondence or references you could share...?I have been told categorically by MBUK that the following rules apply to any claim:
- MBUK will honour roof blistering issues on vehicles even after the official warranty period of the vehicle (3 years in the UK) has expired, subject to a successful MB dealer inspection
- Roof blistering claims will only be processed if your local MB dealer has inspected the roof and ascertained that no external influence has caused the defect in the paint system
- Successful claims will be processed by your local MB dealer directly. There is now a list of affected vehicle chassis numbers therefore your local MB dealer will not need to refer to MBUK for authorisation, thereby reducing the time taken in decision making
- Roofs that are replaced under a claim are warranted as a "replacement part" and as such fall under the MB parts guarantee of 2 years from installation
- All roof communication should now be made via your local MB dealer as they now have the tools to be able to process your claim succesfully
So in my opinion that is it all done and dealt with, good job all involved on this great forum as well as the guys pushing the other side on Fb.
Hi Kiwi Ange,Hey Grand Tourismo. That's a result. Was this via a telephone call or do you have any correspondence or references you could share...?
Thanks for prompt reply. That would be amazing, thank you!Hi Kiwi Ange,
Most of that info came from a phone call with MBUK, their lead on this issue is a chap called Harry Clarke.
I may also have some mail confirmation, I will check and see what I can post on here.
Just bare, but a textured finish.Hi, I had the blisters on the roof and Mercedes replaced it for me. Actually I thought they’d just re spray it. What I can’t remember though is if the inside had a lining or was just bare. The replacement is just bare. Anyone care to check theirs for me? Thanks
Does @Grand Tourismo ’s statement not hold true then?Found blisters on the roof of my Marco Polo, very disappointed. Not comforted by all the comments on here, only mention it to assist in people understanding this is likely to be more than the 5% mentioned. Only spotted it because I washed the vehicle myself. Not had it very long.
Had mine replaced at Blackpool Merc within warranty, tbh if its out of warranty I would not bother just a few little blisters who cares !Does @Grand Tourismo ’s statement not hold true then?
what’s the latest on this everyone? I’ve got a 2019 marco polo that is now out of MB warranty and I’m sure I have a couple of very small bumps/ blisters on the roof.
Are you serious? Why on earth should anyone put up with a defect such as this on a vehicle that costs so much.Had mine replaced at Blackpool Merc within warranty, tbh if its out of warranty I would not bother just a few little blisters who cares !
I completely with you on this , l mind MB UK has appalling after sales service , My 1st replacement had major bumps in it the day it was returned, there attitude was it fibre glass what do you expect, needless to say l rejected it immediately, my next roof blistered in the 1st frosts , just before my warranty ran out , that was reported Dec2021. Quite honestly l believe they are quite useless , l have to chase every 3 months and still waiting .Are you serious? Why on earth should anyone put up with a defect such as this on a vehicle that costs so much.
My roof was replaced a few months ago. The blisters were so bad that the paint was peeling in places. Do you really believe that is acceptable?
My new roof also has begun to blister and I’m now awaiting a second replacement.
