radio off aux battery

Not sure if you mean which battery is the radio powered by? I'm sure its the main battery as it switches off after a time to preserve the battery for starting the engine

I was hoping to find a way to keep the radio on without ignition turned on, it seems th

Thanks Steve, yes that is my question, sadly Mercedes and also Volkswagen did not envisage camper users like to listen to their radios thru the evening.
I don't want to mess with the electrics on my Mp as I have just purchased. As everything is controlled by the MBAC, I guess it will need a techy.

We bought a small rechargeable DAB radio. When the roof is up we pop it on the roof ledge at the front, which helps with reception and keeps it out of the way. The sound is pretty good and it is a lot less faff and expense than rewiring the electrics just to use the radio in our van, which doesn’t have DAB anyway.

I would like to do this too. I guess it doesn't use too much current, but still...

If I remember correctly, it works when connected to the mains, so at least in campgrounds you have music. I know you can get a music speaker, but why not use the wonderful built in sound system?

why cant you listen to radio without any need for anything?
my mbux works for 2-5 hours of music just by starting it up.

not sure this is your problem but theres a button to start mbux near the touchpad. D

p.s
yes mbux run off the main battery. which is a shame... iwould rather like it on leisure...since i like music more than cold beer. D
theres also a massive upgrade on the leisure battery to be found with a lipo battery and a new chargecontroller. which can yield 200ah leisure power.

these batteries have a much diff discharge curve which mean a 100ah is more or less as efficient as a 180-90ah agm.

if anyone comes up with an idea to switch the power manually from primary to aux, by a switch.... im all ears.

Mine is a 2018. I don't think my MBUX is the same as yours. I have a manual button but I don't remember how long it plays without the motor running. It's been a while since I used it.

youre still running off main battery power i would think with older models.
i assume that the best non intrusive way would be to power the amplifier only....however it seem like its one box when looking at vids.

So I tested it our this weekend. I got message after a while that I needed to start the car or turn off the media or I would run the battery down too much. Audiobook from an SD card. It must have been a couple hours playing? Not more than two.
I'm guessing it's because the media system is part of the basic V-class, not Westphalia Marco Polo.
