pop up roof issues

We had our roof replaced under warranty due to the pain blistering. Since that time the pop up roof has operated sporadically or not at all and we have had 3 holidays ruined by trips to the Mercedes dealers in Wales and Scotland who ultimately were not able to help us and on one occasion made the situation worse. That being said we have finally found the root of the problem. Apparently there are 2 sizes of relay and we had the one that was too big so when we were driving the connection would wobble around and therefore it was simply luck if the roof went up or down. I have taken this up with Mercedes customer service who were initially very sympathetic however they have now advised the following about the dealership who undertook the work:

' they have conducted their own investigation between their workshop and their bodyshop, and it has been confirmed by both that the only repair they have performed on your vehicle, was the roof replacement under warranty, which also included paintwork.
They have also confirmed that the roof repair did not include replacement of the relay.'

They have also advised I should take matters up with the Ombudsman. The dealership who discovered the problem have been great in supporting us and have confirmed what we all know that no-one at Mercedes is trained on how to deal with the Marco Polo as they barely ever see one

My question to the forum is quite simple - Is it actually possible to replace the roof without touching the relay? I would have thought not?!
We never had a problem before the roof was replaced!

I would be grateful for any comments - thanks !!

i would say if its only the actual roof....i guess it would be possible to replace the actual roof without removing the open close mechanisms...but if the car has never had the relay changed ...then how can it not fit now!
