Recurring Parking Brake Warning Issue with MP

We bought our 2019 MP in Nov 2023 from Mercedes-Benz of Teesside (Sytner Group). We love the MP, but have had issues where we get the Parking Brake Warning, which leads to the van being immobolised where it won't re-start. The first time was on holiday in Norway in August 2024. The breakdown service was able to re-start the van and the issue seemed to go away until we returned home. The van was looked at by our local MB dealer in Derby who were not able to fully diagnose the issue but performed a software update.

In September the issue happened again in France. Again with the help of breakdown recovery we were able to get home and MB Derby had the van for a longer period and replaced the battery and some sensors. We hoped that the issue was resolved.

The MP has not been used much since then, but after a longish journey yesterday the issue happened again as we arrived home. Thankfully we renewed the MB used car warranty, so we will ask MB Derby to look into the issue again.

However we are now losing confidence in the vehicle and are worried about future trips. Has anybody had a similar experience and is there any recourse with MB Teesside from where we bought the vehicle? Any advice would be much appreciated.

We had the parking brake warning light (yellow) when the cable failed. The MP would function normally, you just had to cancel the warning for each journey until it was replaced. Is it a red warning or yellow?

We got both yellow and red warning lights, as well as messages about the Parking Brake and sometimes about not changing gear. We were then immobilised and the roof also went up without prompting (apparently this is an in-built safety mechanism to stop you driving away!).

Anyway the fixes applied at MB Derby are yet to solve the problems so the van is back with them again now. Fingers crossed that they find a definitive cause this time and can resolve it.
