On our first proper trip in MP (V220) - 6 weeks in France and Spain. Now near Girona and after 800+ miles the OBC is indicating 40.9 mpg, despite avoiding motorways and encountering very hilly roads in Pyrenees. This is far better than our California, which we sold 8 years ago and I seem to remember would have returned in the low 30’s in similar conditions - it definitely didn’t like hills.
What are other people getting? I’m very pleased and quite surprised as I’m sure it will improve as the engines only covered 2,600 miles.

Yes we get about the same on a n good run from our 220. Considerably less locally but both much better than our 20yo v280 that just about managed 11mpg on a 180 mile £90 full tank.

Yeah it was awesome, the engine in the v280 was the based on Audi’s V6 as used in the VR6 golf. The MPG didn’t matter because we only did a few thousand miles a year, after talking to other owners this was a fairly average MPG and ours was serviced by MB.. I loved that car. MB loved it too ££££.

I get about 30mpg around town and on a loaded long run c.44. My best was 47 driving on a very quiet M25 from Essex to Heathrow.

Got mine 5 weeks ago and have covered 1400 miles to date. Mostly long runs around the west and north of Ireland... so far a very similar 40.9mpg. Having moved on from an expedition prepared Land Rover Defender with roof tent that did (at best) 25mpg it seems like free motoring!

Are you driving in Sport mode? I generally use Eco unless it’s hilly, then I use Comfort. That’s fully loaded.
Now done just over 1,000 miles down to Girona through France and mpg has now dropped to 40.3 for the trip. Possibly due to Pyrenees and the fact we have managed to avoid toll road, which often involves a lot of roundabouts! But big savings these days, especially if you avoid the Peáge. When we had the big 6m Fiat based Westfalia I wouldn’t have considered the minor roads, so for me that is a big plus for the MP.

Unfortunately my vehicle being a 2009 model doesn’t have a choice of driving modes.
Not having a trip computer I religiously record fuel purchased and fill to the same level each time and as said best I can get is 32.
I usually use supermarket diesel as its convenient but it has been suggested that I should get a branded Ultimate grade. Advised to run existing tank down till light comes on and then some and then fill with Ultimate. Repeat 3/4 times to clean/clear system/engine and should see an improvement of approximately 10%+.

Our 250 is also a local daily driver, so does more very short trips than long ones. In the last 900 miles it has achieved 33.2 mpg, seems OK to me and I remember on the last long journey we got around 40 mpg

Today on a 40 mile stretch of motorway to Valencia at 65 to 70 mph I got the OBC fuel consumption up to 56.3 mpg. I thought this was remarkable. My MP is a V220 and it was in Eco mode. It was rather spoilt later by the sat nav not being clear (my excuse) about the way to a motorhome dealer for a 2-pin adaptor plug which I’d forgotten to bring. I ended up on about 44 mpg for the day.

My MP is just in for its first service after 2 years of ownership and has covered 31000 km, and reports 6.7 litres/100km = 42.2 mpg average over that period. I use it most days for a 15km commute, half in the city. For long runs e.g. Spain to UK I get around 50 mpg in eco mode. Fuel consumption is excellent for a heavy vehicle.

Hello . I am approaching my 2 year service and due to the cost of service contract did not take it, What should l expect to pay for the 2 year service, my last MB was an A class with annual service, they always sat us down before going through the bill

Hi Carol

We didn't have to pay for it as it was thrown in at the time we bought, but it would have cost about 230 euros here in Spain. We have the automatic and apparently the 4 year service is the expensive one (~700 euros).

Thanks for that Martin. We spend alot of time in France ,in the past I had my BMW serviced in France much better price , so I may enquire next time I ,m there

Just returned from a six week trip to France and Spain. Covered 3,500 miles at an average 40.3 mpg. Considering this included a lot of miles in the mountains of the Pyrenees and Northern Spain in general (we used the mountain passes for the scenery) I am very pleased.
