Hi all. Yet more inane chat on my constant voyage of Marco Polo discovery.

I found via a helpful thread here that if you hold down the up and down arrows on the habitation unit you open up a hidden menu. This menu opens up access to error codes that have appeared on your car.

the first icon opens up up to twenty of the last errors. I have none shown but the next icon is as below the heater icon as per first (out of focus pic) as below

now clicking on this brings up:

Then this;

and this;

is there some sort of “function” one can utilise?

is this the engine water heater? I thought that I’d you had the heater option it was visible from the main habitation screen only?

can some owners please check their own cars and advise at least if it’s the same? Or if you have ANY knowledge or experience what it all relates to?

Car has been on mains charging overnight. This is the screen now, the bars on the screen are slowly cycling through the scale.

I appreciate this forum is quiet but if anyone gets round to looking at this post I’d appreciate it if you can confirm if your car behaves the same.

Hi George,
Afraid I can’t answer your question in relation to the fault codes. We’re away in the MP at the moment. It’s one of those rare times when everything is working as it should (touching wood ).Our confidence is somewhat eroded in the vehicle and I’m scared of jinxing it!
With regards to the center console, I’m plugged into mains and this is what is displayed on it.
Cheers.

Thanks Martin, this looks the same as mine. Thanks for confirming.

This was mine whilst plugged in earlier today.

I’m intrigued to find out what this hidden sub menu is all about with particular reference to the heater option.

I’m also trying to ascertain if my leisure battery is healthy. I left my car at 0827 to take the dogs for a walk and the voltage was 14.6V on return a couple of hours later, with no internal lights on, fridge off the voltage was 12.6V.

is this normal or is something draining the battery?

Hi George ,
I don’t know the answer and can’t check as it’s plugged into the mains so maintaining a constant 13.4.
I’m home on Monday so if you don’t get an answer by then I’ll leave mine unplugged for a couple of hours and record the results.
Cheers, Martin.

^^^ excellent. Thanks Martin much appreciated. There really is a dearth of information on these vans and this forum seems to be the only source of information.

I do notice that when fully charged and then usage starts, the first few bars go immediately, then steady erosion.

Hi George,
The two photos are of my battery readings on parking up after our weekend away and 2 and a half hours later. Ignore the time display, it’s inaccurate and I can’t bothered to keep changing it.
I’ll check it again in the morning.
Cheers, Martin.

Hi George,
This is my display at 10:00 today. Overnight down from 12.7 to 12.6. Does that compare with yours?

I’ll check shortly. I did pop into the car last night the car had not been driven all day and was sitting about 12.4v. I did notice that the battery status bar had only the first and last bars illuminated. The manual just says something about the battery status being indeterminate.

I turned the car over and it fired up to over 13.7v in no time.

I’ll check shortly when I’m back at the car.

No idea why I’m so nervous of the leisure battery health other than the car having such low mileage.

So on checking the car now it’s sitting as below. Which doesn’t look a kick in the pants away from yours and as you’ve been on electric hookup all weekend suspect yours is naturally sitting at a higher standing charge. Thank you.

Hi. Some comments

I can’t comment on error menu

The misleadingly named ‘hot water heater’ is part of the base MB vehicle and controlled off the aircon buttons if you have it and not the habitation/westfalia control panel. That controls the night heater under the passenger seat

The battery indicator:
- shows a top and bottom bar only when it’s unsure of the charge. It then puts the right voltage and bar level once you drive it a short while
- the bar graph moves when it is on charge. Needs to be plugged in and the circuit breaker next to the sink/ cupboard turned on.
- charges when driving
- lots of threads on the leisure battery / performance on here. Others have more experience than me
