Easy-pack tailgate?

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the easy-pack tailgate safety/ damage prevention.

Is there a sensor that determines if it is safe to activate the tailgate opening? Say for instance you back up to a wall or have a tow hitch bike rack fitted, Will the tailgate just open anyway?

Apologies in advance if this has already been covered I have tried several searches and uncovered nothing here or on the internets.

Yes it won't open if there's an obstruction in the way

I opened my tailgate the other day in a shopping centre.I knew the clearance was fine but as I opened it I nearly took out a pedestrian walking past the back of my van-the tailgate is quite a size!
