They are used during assembly to make sure the glass is centred in the aperture. I had them on my MP at delivery (assume yours is new too?) but on the sliding door glass. If you pull/rotate them gently, they should come free.

its a 2018. Bizarre they would be left on- I was hoping for some hidden gadget. .
