Tail gate not locking when using remote key

Hi all

I’ve just bought. 2019 Marco Polo and found that when closing the tail gate with the remote key, the secondary lock doesn’t engage meaning the dash shows the tail gate open causing the alarm to sound. You can also shake the tail gate.
When I close the tail gate manually it engages.
Anybody experienced this before and know a solution.

Not experienced this on either of my MPs. Does the tailgate close properly with the button on the lower edge of the tailgate?

It might be worth cleaning the rubber seals and lubricating/protecting with something like Gummipfledge or a light coating of silicone spray. The same goes for the hinges and the latch itsself (worth asking Mercedes what they recommend for lubrication). Also worth taking a look at forums for W477 (MBClub.co.uk and Mercedesclub.org.uk) - it may be something that other V Class owners have experienced.
